Landing a Man on the Moon
Having the first man step foot on the Moon was a huge accomplishment for the United States. I chose this topic for my attraction loop project and used JFK’s speech when he announced the Apollo 11 mission.
Once I found the speech on YouTube I put it into iMovie to crop it down to the parts I wanted to use and to get it close to the time requirement.

To create the wireframes I split different parts of the speech up into boxes and described what I thought a good transition for that word or little group of words would be.

I also needed to decide how long each section with its transition was going to last for. The way I thought it was going to be at the beginning of the process is shown below.

For the fonts for my project I did a basic font, a bold font and then two fonts that had a space vibe. For my colors I did red, white, blue which is very fitting since this event is big in U.S. history. Other colors I had were slate gray, charcoal and black.

Using Adobe Illustrator I designed out the different boxes. I mapped out how I kind of wanted things to look when they were in Hype. For some of the boxes you can see the transitions that I was thinking would look good and cool. I also wanted some different backgrounds that changed things up instead of having a plain background on each segment.

Hype
Once I got started building in Hype and got the hang of it, it wasn’t too bad. I struggled with the segment “of Landing a Man on the Moon” and getting it to twist and rotate how I wanted. I got some help though and was able to get some movement in the segments. I don’t think it turned out exactly how I wanted but it turned out okay.

For the segment that says “on Earth” I wanted it to come in strong and have a shake affect because it lands so hard. I think it would have been cool to have the words crumble or crack to give it that extra affect as well. I am not sure how I would’ve went about doing these animations but I think they would have added a great element to my project. Something that was hard with this project is that for each segment you didn’t have that much time to do a cool affect or transition before it switches to the next one. For the “on Earth” I ended up putting two “Earth” text elements and layering them so it had some dimension.

I like the different background on the segment shown below because it shows the decade that the Apollo 11 mission took place. It educates the users on this event in history a little bit. I think a cooler way to display this would have been to have a bunch of small ‘60's’ fall from the top and land at the bottom of the screen.

I learned some of the basics of Hype and how to do some cool things. There is so much more for me to learn in this program but this was a good start. This class and project pushed me to learn new things and develop new skills.
